STEVE JEFFORD
Ex-Farrier
Steve Jefford is a specialist in canine photography, having firmly
established himself as a popular photographer on the dog showing scene and with
DOG WORLD readers.
Steve
shares his home with his wife Sharon and his daughter Stephanie & the family’s
seven dogs and his daughter Steph enjoys
showing
their Pointers and Wire Fox Terriers.
Steve has
attended, photographed and even judged horse shows for over 28 years,
but it was
a broken wrist which brought about a break of another kind. Steve
initially
attended canine championship shows with his ever-present trade stand
but,
thanks to his reputation in equestrian photography, which included the big
international dressage shows at Goodwood, he was approached to take
photographsof dog shows in the early ‘90s.
As DOG
WORLD prides itself on using passionate and professional photographers,
it was a
natural progression for Steve to start working for the newspaper in July
2002. He
continues to attend shows most weekends, soaking up the atmosphereand variety of
each event.
Self-taught, Steve has learnt through trial and error what works best for
exhibitors
and their
dogs, putting them at ease and making the process enjoyable.
Steve
takes his state-of-the-art mobile studio to shows so, whatever the weather,
he still
captures the best photographs of exhibitors. An extensive range of pictures
is put on his website
www.k9photos.co.uk
so customers can choose and order
their
prints from the comfort of their own homes. Designed by Steve himself, the
website is
user-friendly, easy to navigate and contains a helpful FAQ section.
Living in
the beautiful Arundel area of West Sussex, Steve covers a large area
including
Hampshire, Bedford, Luton and Norfolk, as well as Discover Dogs and
Crufts. He
is happy to travel and regularly attends kennels for on-location shoots.
